OSDConf14′ – An experience to remember

So finally!! I am done with my exams and therefore finishing off all the pending work 😛 and this blog post being one.

I got to know about OSDConf through the ALiAS FB group. I started GOOGLING around and found that it is the annual conference which is held every year at JIIT and is organised by their team.

I thought it would be a good “adventure” for me as I was hungry to meet some geeky people!! And therefore I registered for the event! Later I came to know that they have also opened invitation for talks and I seeking the opportunity submitted my proposal. Lately I was busy working with DRUPAL and thought it would be a great idea to give talk on one of my current favourite CMS!

I also came to know that JACOB SINGH was also giving the talk on the topic “SELLING OPEN SOURCE”. Sadly his talk was later postponed due to some exigent circumstances.  For those of you who don’t know what ACQUIA is!! Please visit the above URL. As usual I reached the venue and co-incidentally met Abhinandan Sir after a long time. I was glad that he is still enthusiastic about these noobie hackathons.  As I reached the venue I saw the similar faces Ankur, Vaidik, Tavish and the list goes on…. We got our badges and entered the main conference hall. It was my first visit to JIIT Noida and to be honest I was impressed by their infrastructure [no pun intended].

The keynote address for the day 1 was given by Keynote Session By Hari Prasanna and Pranav Prakash. Later we attended interesting sessions which include :

  • Hardware Hacking by Tavish Naruka
  • Building Scalable Web Application on Google Cloud : – Ankit Maheshwari
  • IOT
  • Web Scraping by Saurav Tomar using Python

All in all Day 1 ended on a good high but I was excited for the second day as most of the eminent speakers whom I personally knew were to arrive the next day.

As usual in sheer excitement I reached the venue on time. Upon entering the venue I met Konark and Vaidik, as they were discussing something geeky.

Soon Mr. Parashar also arrived at the venue in his beloved cycle and then started the real geeky bakc**di. 😛

The keynote address of the day 2 was given by Piyush Kumar who is the lead of Infrastructure and Website Operations at MakeMyTrip. Later we attended the alternate sessions which include

  • GNOME : Contributing to Open Source Projects By Shobha Mam
  • Intro to Cloud Telephony by Gurteshwar Singh
  • Visualisations and Intro to IPython by Konark

I was supposed to give my talk at around 3 PM which I rescheduled as Shubhamoy was unable to give his talk the day before.
My talk went pretty well though there were around 10-15 people in the hall but it was a great opportunity for me to exhibit what I have learnt so far. For me it’s not about NUMBERS!

The last session of the day 2 was given by Karan Grover on Introduction to GITHUB.
After all the hustle bustle the day ended on a high.

Met some of the awesome people and made some new friends.

All in all it was an experience to remember. Since I don’t have the my personal clicks available as of now I am sharing OSDConf’s official album from their Facebook Page.
